We are a locally owned and operated business in Columbus, Ohio. The name  MAXI is short for Maximus (yes, from the gladiator), the founder’s son. The motivation for starting MAXI was pretty simple, for the same reasons most businesses are started: you want to work for yourself and create a better life for you and your family, giving you more time to do the things that matter or that you love.

The founder, Josh, was inspired by his grandfather’s small-town mechanic shop as a kid. It was a fun place to hang out while providing a service to people in the community. His grandfather and uncle taught him skills like painting curbs, stocking the pop machine, doing oil changes and tires, and washing and cleaning cars. As an adult, he just earned an MBA and worked in many different jobs, including Red Lobster, but always lacked the freedom, flexibility, and opportunity to do something meaningful. 

In 2018, he began developing possible ideas for businesses and finally decided to go all in on his idea of starting a mobile oil change service.  At the time, he was teaching adjunct classes at two colleges, working as a special deputy, doing oil changes in between, and taking Max to work with him several days a week. His attitude was always, “I am going to build this as if it will 100 trucks on the road, but it will probably just be me”. Five years later, MAXI is expanding, allowing others like Josh to own and operate a franchise and create a better life for themselves and their families.
