MAXI Mobile Oil Change is a locally owned and operated business based in Columbus, Ohio. The name “MAXI” is short for Maximus—yes, like the gladiator—but more importantly, it’s the name of our founder’s son. The motivation behind starting this business was simple: to create a better life. Like many entrepreneurs, our founder wanted the freedom to work for himself, provide for his family, and build something meaningful that gave him more time to spend on the things that matter most.

Josh, our founder, grew up around cars. His inspiration came from his grandfather’s small-town mechanic shop—a place filled with character, community, and hard work. From a young age, he was stocking pop machines, painting curbs, rotating tires, and learning how to service vehicles the right way. That hands-on experience left a lasting impression.

Despite earning an MBA and working every job under the sun, Josh never found the flexibility or fulfillment he was looking for. So, in 2018, he decided to build something of his own: a mobile oil change service that could meet people where they are and make vehicle maintenance as convenient as possible.

He started small—teaching at two colleges, working as a special deputy, changing oil between shifts, and bringing Max along for the ride. His mindset from day one was: “I’m going to build this like it’ll have 100 trucks on the road… even if it’s just me.”

Today, just a few six years later, MAXI is growing. We’re expanding into new markets and offering franchise opportunities to others who, like Josh, want to build a better future for themselves and their families. Because MAXI isn’t just about oil changes—it’s about freedom, ownership, and building something that lasts.
