Our Story

MAXI Mobile Oil Change is a locally owned and operated business based in Columbus, Ohio. The name “MAXI” is short for Maximus — like the gladiator — but more importantly, it’s the name of our founder’s son.

MAXI was born out of a simple goal: build a better way to work and a better way to serve people. Josh wanted the freedom to work for himself, provide for his family, and create a business that left room for health, time, and real life — not just long hours and burnout.

He grew up around cars in his grandfather’s small-town mechanic shop. From stocking soda machines and painting curbs to rotating tires and changing oil, he learned early that good work is quiet, consistent, and focused on taking care of people.

A big part of Josh’s mindset came from his dad — the hardest-working person he’s ever known. For more than 40 years his dad showed up to the same job with the same steady attitude. Without saying much, he taught Josh two things that stuck: have a relentless work ethic, and don’t sell your whole life to an employer.

After earning multiple degrees and working all kinds of jobs, Josh still hadn’t found the mix of flexibility, fulfillment, and purpose he was looking for. That’s when the idea for MAXI took shape: a mobile oil change service that comes to your driveway, your office, or your job site — saving people time without cutting corners on quality.

MAXI started small. One van. One driveway at a time. Early mornings, late afternoons, and a simple approach: show up on time, act like a pro, do clean work, and leave the driveway better than we found it. Over time, that turned into a clear, repeatable system that every MAXI technician follows today.

Today, MAXI serves families, busy professionals, and fleets across the Columbus area. We’ve added services, grown the team, and invested in better systems — but the heart of the business hasn’t changed. MAXI is still about freedom, ownership, and building something that lasts for our customers, our team, and our families.
